This is one of the many questions we receive every day here at G-Zone Mag to our Dear Friend section.   The girl who asked would like us to use her situation to help other teens.  If you have a question about sex, dating, parents, school, friends or just about anything just write to our Dear Friend by clicking here

Dear 15yr old virgin from Ohio,

I'm often asked if virgins can have STD's. The answer is yes- you don't have to have full sex to catch an STD. If a virgin has had any sexual contact at all with another person, that is, if they've touched a partner's genitals or if a partner handled their own genitals and then touched yours, germ can be passed on. Genital warts can be carried on fingers, and herpes can be spread through oral sex. So if you or your partner have been intimate with another person, it would be wise to get tested before having any sexual contact with each other. Visiting a clinic together shows you both take each other health and well-being seriously. You won't be seen by the doctor together, by the way.
If you go for a general checkup at a clinic, you've routinely tested for Chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, vaginalis, and syphilis. You'll also be asked what type of sex (e.g., penetrative sex or oral sex) you've been having and with whom, and if you have any symptoms to see if you need further tests. It's important to be honest with the doctor or nurse so you get tested for all infections you might have come into contact with.

Also remember that any kind of sex is a serious action that only mature people should even consider, as it also has serious reactions like STD and pregnancy. And should only happen when you are ready to take that life changing responsibility. This is my advice as a counselor.
As Ur Friend I say that sex is a special gift you will give to someone special and I don't think you would give a half open present, would you?. Take care of yourself and remember you are a princess of the King of the universe so act like it.

Sincerely,
Ur Friend
